The official programme
During this tour we cruise along the northern coast of Malta, enjoying the views. On arrival at the sister island of Gozo we board a coach and visit the capital city, Victoria.
Victoria is the name given to the town on 10 June 1887 by the British government, on the occasion of Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee, at the request of the Bishop of Gozo, Mons. Pietro Pace. Gozitans, however, still often refer to it by its old name, Rabat. The area around Victoria, on a hill near the centre of the island, has been settled since Neolithic times.
In the centre of Victoria lies the Cittadella, a historic fortified city. The Cittadella, also called the Citadel, is on Malta's tentative list of future World Heritage Sites by UNESCO, which describes it as a small fortified town. An old prison stands within the city, as do the Courts of Justice. Here you stop for around 75 minutes. On the way back to the port we stop for a few minutes at the Qala Belvedere.
In the afternoon we head to the famous Blue Lagoon, where you can spend time exploring the island and swimming in the tranquil turquoise water.

What to bring
Swimwear and a towel
Wear your swimming costume under your clothes — it saves queueing for the changing area when we reach Comino.
Serious sun cream
There is very little natural shade on Comino and the sun reflects off the water. A hat and a high factor are not optional in summer.
Comfortable shoes
The Cittadella is uphill and paved with old stone. Flip-flops will not enjoy it as much as you will.
Some cash
For a coffee in Victoria, a snack from the bar on board, or an ice cream at the lagoon.
A dry bag or case
Handy for a phone or a camera if you plan to swim out and photograph the lagoon.
Snorkel and mask
Not essential — but the water at the lagoon is clear to the bottom and it is a shame to miss it.
Pick-up times
The boat leaves Sliema Ferries at 10:30 and is back at 18:30. From Buġibba Jetty it leaves at 11:30 and is back at 17:30.

Comino has almost no trees. The boat has an air-conditioned area, a shaded deck, fresh-water showers, a bar and toilets — use them.
Season
The cruise operates from May to November, when the sea is warm enough to make the Blue Lagoon worth the trip.
The sea decides
If the weather turns, the programme can change or the trip can be moved to another day. We will always tell you in good time.
Children
Children aged 3–12 travel at the child rate. The lagoon is shallow and sheltered, which makes it one of the easier swimming spots in Malta for small children.

Victoria on foot
The 75 minutes on Gozo include a walk up to the Cittadella. If that is difficult, the cafés and shops in the square below are worth the stop on their own.
