Blue Lagoon, Comino — Full-Day Cruise
A whole day at the most photographed stretch of water in Malta — sailing from Buġibba Port in the north or the Sliema Ferries in the south, with hotel pick-up in both areas.
Everybody has seen the photograph. The Blue Lagoon is a narrow channel between Comino and the little island of Cominotto, and the water there sits over white sand rather than dark rock — which is why it turns that impossible luminous turquoise and why the boats above it look as though they are floating in mid-air. It is the single most photographed place in the Maltese islands, and it deserves the reputation.
We collect you from your hotel, cruise across to Comino and anchor at the lagoon for the day. What you do with it is up to you: swim off the boat, snorkel over the sand, take the ladder down for the third time before lunch, or walk ashore and up the path towards St Mary's Tower for the view back over the channel. If the lagoon is busy, the quieter Santa Marija Bay is a short walk across the island.
The boat stays with you all day — fresh-water showers, an air-conditioned area to escape the heat, toilets, and a bar with snacks and drinks at sensible prices. Snorkels, masks and deckchairs are available on board for a small charge, and an optional tour of the caves along Comino's coastline can be bought on the day. Hotel transport both ways is included in the price.

The lagoon itself
Shallow, sheltered and turquoise over white sand — the calmest swimming water in Malta and the easiest for children.
The island behind it
Comino has almost no roads and fewer than a handful of residents. Walk to St Mary's Tower or over to Santa Marija Bay when you want the quiet.
Your boat all day
Shade, showers, toilets, a bar and somewhere air-conditioned to sit — you are never stuck on a crowded beach with nowhere to go.
- Transport from your hotel to the boat & back
- Full-day cruise to Comino
- On-board facilities: fresh-water showers, air-conditioned area, bar & toilets
What to bring
Swimwear underneath
Put your costume on before you leave the hotel — it saves the queue for the changing area once we anchor.
Sun cream, and plenty
Comino has no trees to speak of and the water throws the light straight back at you. High factor, and a hat.
A towel and something dry
The boat has fresh-water showers, so a towel and a dry t-shirt for the journey back are worth the space.
Water shoes if you have them
The lagoon is sand, but the rocks at the edges and the path ashore are sharp in places.
Some cash
For the bar, a deckchair, a snorkel set, or the optional cave tour bought on the day.
A dry bag for your phone
You will want the photograph, and you will want to swim out to take it.
Two departure points, and we bring you to them
The cruise leaves from Buġibba Port in the north and from the Sliema Ferries in the south.
⚓ Sailing from Buġibba Port
We collect you from your hotel in the Buġibba and Qawra area and bring you back after the cruise.
⚓ Sailing from the Sliema Ferries
We collect you from your hotel in the Sliema area and bring you back after the cruise.
⌚ The way back
We leave Comino between 16:30 and 17:00, sail back to Buġibba Port or the Sliema Ferries, and the coach takes you from there to your hotel — so you are back in good time for the evening.
Staying outside these two areas? You are very welcome to join us at either port — tell us your hotel when you book and we will confirm your pick-up point and your exact time.
Good to know
May to November
We run the cruise through the warm half of the year, when the sea is worth crossing for. Outside that season, ask us what else is running.
The lagoon gets busy
Midday in August is the crowded hour. That is exactly when the boat, the shade and Santa Marija Bay earn their place — you are not dependent on finding a spot on the sand.
Children under 5 go free
And the lagoon is about the most forgiving swimming water in Malta for small children — shallow, sheltered and clear enough to see the bottom.
Extras are optional, not hidden
The price covers the transport, the cruise and the boat's facilities. Deckchairs, snorkel sets and the cave tour are small extras you choose on the day, or skip.
The sea decides
If the weather turns, the programme can change or we move you to another day. We tell you in good time, and you are not left guessing at the quay.
